Derek K. Tseng received the B.S. (2004) in electrical engineering from University of California, San Diego and M.S. (2010) in electrical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has multidisciplinary engineering hand-on experience and training across biological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering. His optical-based gas sensing and lens-free microscopy prototypes were used in over 11 refereed journal papers. He also published more than 17 journal and conference papers.

He worked at InnoSense LLC (2005-2008) as Research Engineer for thin film sol-gel coating research and gas senser prototype. Since 2008, he joined the research lab at UCLA as Junior Developing Engineer and worked on mechanical housing for lens-free microscopy prototype.
