Daniel Shir received his B.S. with distinction in Materials Science and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2005. After graduation, he joined the Ph.D. program in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Illinois under the guidance of Prof. John A. Rogers. During his Ph.D. study, he published 10 peer-review journal articles on topics of soft lithography, phase mask lithography, 3D photonic crystals, and Si photovoltaics. On completion of his degree, he worked as a process development engineer at join Intel Corp. from 2010 to 2014. He is currently a post-doctoral scholar in Prof. Aydogan Ozcan’ group at University Of California at Los Angeles. His research interests include flexible and portable bio-sensors and low cost holographic imaging techniques.
